1.   Setup:

a. Carefully unpack the compressed air pump and inspect for any damage during transportation.

b. Place the pump on a stable and flat surface near the pressure ulcer mattress.

c. Connect the power cord to the pump and plug it into a suitable power outlet.

d. Attach the air hose to the pump outlet and connect the other end to the mattress’s air input valve securely.

2.   Operation:

a. Ensure that the pump is turned off before connecting it to the mattress.

b. Open the air input valve on the mattress.

c. Turn on the pump by pressing the power button.   The pump will start inflating the mattress with compressed air.

d. Adjust the pressure settings according to the recommended level for the patient’s comfort and medical needs.

e. Monitor the inflation process and ensure that the mattress is evenly inflated and free from any wrinkles or folds.

f. Once the desired pressure is reached, close the air input valve on the mattress.

g. The pump will automatically maintain the set pressure level, continuously adjusting the airflow to prevent pressure ulcers.

3.   Maintenance:

a. Regularly inspect the pump and air hose for any signs of wear, damage, or leaks.   Replace any faulty parts immediately.

b. Clean the exterior of the pump with a soft, damp cloth.   Do not use harsh chemicals or immerse the pump in water.

c. Store the pump in a clean and dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

d. Follow the manufacturer’s recommended maintenance schedule for more detailed instructions on cleaning and servicing.
